Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of microfracture of surrounding bone due to overtightening during implantation. 40 titanium implants (10mm) were inserted on the tibial metaphyses at 20 rabbits. We divided into following groups. In the control group : 20 implants were placed with conventional method at one side of both tibia. In the experimental group ¥° : 10 implants were overtightened and installated at the other side. In experimental group ¥± : After 10 implants were overtightened, Millipore membrane were coverd at fixture head. After 3 months, animals were sacrificed and removal torques were measured with Tohnichi 15 BTG Torque gauge manometer(Tonichi Mfg., Co., Ltd., Tokyo, Japan). The following results were obtained. 1. There was not a statistically significant difference between the removal torques of control group and the experimental group ¥°(p>0.1). 2. More removal torques are measured in experimental group ¥° than control group. There was a statistically significant difference between the removal torques of control group and the experimental group ¥± (p=0.06).
